It sets no-one apart to tell voters that you want them to thrive and prosper, that you value success. No-one disagrees. Jacinda Ardern has made a career out of political values no-one can disagree with (“be kind”), but the purpose of politics is to choose between alternative ideas. If you aspire to lead New Zealand, you must lead for all New Zealanders, not just the privileged.
